Laptop Keeps Losing Connection

HP Pavilion, dm1-4010us. I bought this laptop last Christmas and it has been a good performer for our needs. But for the past two months or so it has occasionally been losing the connection to the internet. At first I thought it was the router, (Netgear WNDR3700), but the WiFi indicator is always 4 or 5 bars. I tested another laptop in this location and it worked flawlessly.
Last night the issue occured again. It was running fine but then the internet connection was lost, despite a strong WiFi signal. I rebooted and it connected and ran fine after that. What are possible causes of this behavior?

could possibly be interference from the broadcast channel. Maybe change to a different channel and see if that makes a difference? What throws me is the other laptop working flawlessly, but the channel could've been ok at that moment in time. Is your IP address static or dynamic? What is your router's DHCP server settings?

My IP address is static, (Comcast is my ISP). When you ask about the router's DNCP server settings, sorry to say you've lost me. I'm not at all techie when it comes to these things. If you can tell me where to find that info, I'll be able to get it.

You might try downloading and installing the most recent Wifi driver available on the HP support website for your laptop. You might also check the Windows system log as soon as you have a failure to determine if there is a error code there that might help decipher the problem.

To get the correct driver, make sure to select the correct OS at the following link and hit Next before doing a download from the network section:
