Laptop keeps locking up

I have a Toshiba A75-S206.

It almost always locks up. It just freezes and i have to hold the power button to turn it off to restart.

Sometimes it locks up right away other times when it feels like it

I have formatted and reinstalled Windows XP many times to no help

Should i replace the battery, hard drive or just ad more ram?

Or should i do my favorite choice, chuck it off a bridge?

Please help

Thanks

i have never even opened the case.

been pretty careful with it and never droped it either.

i'll give that a try and hope
