Ok so I have a Compaq laptop that is no longer receiving power. In fact this is like the 6th or 7th time this problem has occured and it is really starting to bug. Well they want me to send my laptop in to get replaced but I need my files from my laptop. How would I go about getting the files from my laptop backed up? I am not sure if this will help but I have a Vizo Masterpanel. I really need to get the files from this hard drive as they are part of my lively hood some of which I have done in the recent two weeks after my last backup! Please let me know if there is anyway to get the files off! Thanks!

Really easy to do if you have something like THIS, or if you have the time to order one. Then just pull the HD from your laptop (instructions for doing so should be in your documentation), plug it into the usb adapter and hook it up to another computer to copy the files. That's what your local PC shop will do.

*edit*
BTW, not all of those devices are created equally so you'll really want to find one that's got some good reviews. I've purchased 2 that were terrible at detecting most of the hd's I hooked up.

I have used a 2.5" external drive case for this many times. Remove your latop's HDD from the machine and its caddt - then put it in an external case and connect it to another computer. You can then copy the files or even create an image of the drive.
