Laptop issue

I bought a 1gb kit of pc2100 Sodimms, we installed it but it only shows 512mbs. I pulled the ram out and tested both sodimm slots and both saw 512mb when tested. Yet when I put in 1gb (both 512s) it still only shows one sodimm...

any ideas?

What model is it. If it is older it may be limited to 512mb max.

Does either stick work in either slot or is one slot disabled/broken?

You might need to upgrade your laptop's BIOS.

Likely a memory limit, it its odd that it would be ddr and only allow 512...
