The ideal system would be: 1080 or 1600x900 screen, good build quality,
durability (my dad's dell Inspiron lasted nearly a decade) and should have
the capability to interchange most parts (think clevo laptops) with these parts or better:
- core i5 sandy bridge
- gt 650m x-GB GDDR5 or better
- 6 gigs of ram 1333 and up
- 500gb hdd
- good audio card (Death glare at dv6t-7000)
- wifi
- 15 in. screen and bigger
- Under $1,000 ideally $800-900
Not Needed But Appreciated
- optical drive
- SSD would be nice but not so important
- USB 3.0, HDMI out
- keyboard numpad
- backlit keyboard
Not Important
- glossy screens
- speaker quality (not same as sound card quality)
- battery life
- weight
- optical drive
- Fingerprint scanners
I will likely be using windows 7 for gaming and ubuntu 12.04 for everything
else. These are the games Im looking into play:
- Dues Ex
- Spec Ops The Line
- Amnesia
- Dark Souls
- AirMech
- Natural Selection 2
- Saint's Row 3
- BattleField 3
I already have some choices lined up below
- Sager NP6165 (W150ER)<----what is the difference between these models?
- Sager NP6175 (W170ER)<---^ (both at lpc-digital)
- Xplorer X6-9700 - Cheap, very cheap but can not find any reviews, has
1080p, 650m 2gb (might be the DDR3 version) and an i7 (cyberpowerpc)
- Acer Aspire V3-771G-9875 - I don't know much about this one but at first
glance it looks like a good buy on new-egg
Last, a few questions
> Is good ventilation absolutely necessarily if for a laptop to last a decade
> Suggestions, do you guys have experience with cyberpowerpc/clevo/lpc-digital?
