Laptop idle temperature around 80C

I have an Asus G14 with an RTX 2060 that idles between 75c and 85c. These are the temperatures when I'm simply browsing the web or just leaving it on. Room temperature is around 76c.

Is it time to clean the fans out of my laptop? It does look pretty dusty.

A room temperature of 76c (about 160 degrees Fahrenheit) will do that. 😉

But if the fans look "pretty dusty", it likely would help your temperatures by cleaning the dust buildup out of laptop.

Clean fans and heatsink fins, though if your fan(s) are spinning like mad you will also wear them out faster. Maybe consider getting a room air cleaner?

Just giving you guys an update. My laptop would idle at 76C on a lucky day and if I watched a movie using the VLC app, it would skyrocket up to 90C. Many times I would see an idle at around 85C.

I took my laptop apart and sprayed it with a can of compressed air. Now my temps are normal at around 56C!!!!!!

That was one dusty laptop!

You should have taken before pictures as it probably rivaled another user on here never-before-cleaned dusty case.

I was going to link to the thread and photos, but it appears he edited and removed them later on (probably from all the ridicule we dished out trying to get him to clean that mess up). 😛
