Laptop hybrid hard drive as my main hard drive for my desktop?

I bought a hybrid hard drive by accidentally and I'm wondering if I can use it as my main hard drive.

Will it work? Yes.

In a few situations, it will be faster than a 7200RPM HDD. Things like boot time and frequently used apps will fire up a bit faster. But for the majority of uses, you are much better off in terms of performance with a smallish (120GB or larger) SSD and a larger HDD for media storage.

If you can't return it, then it will do the job just fine, and you won't have to do anything special to get the speed boost of the SSDcache.

its slow compared to a ssd..

its not even a contest...
Ive been using hybrids in desktop to see all the hype and they almost have none.

They were fast at there time, however today's desktop generation drives will kill most of them.
And if u compare to a SSD... its a no contest, as the hybrid drive will lose by a very large margin.

infact ur better off with a wd raptor instead if ur after speed over a hybrid drive.

It's only a 5400RPM drive. SUPER quiet, but slower than a 7200RPM drive on a large game load or file copy. GREAT Windows boot times and acceleration on your most-used programs though.
