I'm looking for a lappy to take to college this fall. My price range is about 2000$ and I want something that is competent in gaming that I can fit in my budget. I see that you can get a Dell Inspiron with these stats:

17" Screen
Core Duo 2.0Ghz
2gb DDR2 @ 667mhz
100gb 5400rpm HD
7900 Gefore Go GS
Integrated Audigy Sound or somthing
Upgraded Battery
Price -> about 2000$ after shipping & tax

I was just wonding if this computer is a good deal or not.

Also, is it wise to drop this kind of money on a Core Duo laptop when Core Duo 2 is coming out soon? (I start college in September)

Heh I remember when my sister gave $1600 for a HP with a Celeron 700mhz,128mb,14.1" and preloaded with ME. But that was like 5 years or so ago.

Anyway it sounds like a good deal since it should be able to run everything you throw at it. But myself I could never give alot for a laptop. Carrying it around and risking dropping it. But I guess thats what a warranty is for. I wonder if that covers it being stolen?

Dell Inspiron's have Dell Discount Coupons of $750 off a $2000 buy. Google for 'Dell Discount Coupon'. Do worry about time limit. It renews all the time.

I tried that coupon, but it says in the fine print that it doesnt combine with any other deals... that laptop is at 2000 dollars with a 34% off special already included.

Well it seems like people generally agree that the computer is a decent deal... But would it be worth it to wait for Merom? Having a Core Duo 2 would be pretty awsome.

Like a I said a good deal is good parts and a good warrenty scince you did not list one I think it does nto have one. you should get at least 3 years. saved me the last 2 weeks I got all my money back for a new one at the same price I paid for.
