I am a college student looking for a laptop. My only needs for it are to do school work. I am a Computer Science major, so I mainly need it for doing programming assigments. I am not looking for a high powered laptop to replace a desktop. I am looking for a small laptop, thats got good battery life. I was looking at Dell 300m, and 600m. How are these?I am also looking to spend $1500 or less. I will also be using the laptop to sure the internet but not that much. I just dont want it to be incredibly slow that I encounter lots of lag.....Thanks for any help

You could probably get a good deal on something like that for under $700; check the Hot Deals forum. Sometimes good offers pop up there. Or get a used one on the FS/T forum. $1500 would buy you a lot more power than it sounds like you'll be needing.

Many of the good deal ones are kinda big unfortunately. Like the HP/Compaq Athlon lappies that are on the ATHD are usually 6+LBs. I also wonder why 3LBers cost so much more despite weaker specs.
