Laptop Help, What notebooks fit these specs?

I am looking for a small notebook 10-14 inch screen (wide or standard is fine), but the specs I am looking for I am needing a bit of help and can give some direction on what I am looking for at the same time.

Hard drive 40 gig or more but would REALLY like 7200 RPM
USB side access vs rear access
wifi built in for B & or G
Fast large ram ability (probably gonna put in a gig or more)
Fast enough to run Photoshop and Soundforge (not at same time)
dvd burner nice but dvdrom cdrw burner is ok too...

I don't know a whole lot about notebook makers or models but most I look at don't even have 7200 rpm drives, I was peeking at the brand new alienware sentia 3200 but other than alienware who makes a notebook that will offer a 7200 Rpm drive that will handle photoshop and soundforge (the two main programs I will be using on the go).

Not into gaming, but usb side port is something id like too, just easier than reaching behind unit to plug in.

I don't know alot about processor speeds Pent 4 vs Pent M vs Celeron (was told stay away from Celerons), and in general I would like to stay in the 1500-2500 range money wise.

Just looking for examples and ideas of who makes a decent unit with the features i want that will run the programs I want in the size I want.

Any suggestions greatfully accepted.

In that price range, I would look at the IBM T series laptops.

Not sure about available specs compared to your list but going with the Centrino models (pentium M W/ wireless built in) would cover a chunk of what you are after.

IBM.com - Thinkpad T43: 14", 1.86GHz, 768MB, 40GB, DVD/CDRW $1100
Click the above link, in the middle click "Thinkpad T Series" under the Sale Notebooks section. You will find IBM Thinkpad T43 laptops in sale configurations. Choose "no Microsoft Office Selection" unless you want that upgrade. Scroll down and deselect some checkboxes, then choose the center Customize link. I customized one as follows:
free 512MB memory module
Intel Pentium M 1.86GHz 533MHz CPU
Windows XP Home
no Microsoft Office
256MB memory module
ATI Mobility Radeon X300 64MB graphics
40GB hard drive
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo drive
integrated gigabit Ethernet and modem
Intel Pro Wireless 2200BG internal Mini PCI
Thinkpad 6-cell battery
That comes to $1320 with free shipping for this configuration with 3 year warranty. That's a pretty good deal. IBM Thinkpads are very robust, and have a rubber pointer between the G and H keys. This one also comes with a fingerprint reader.

An upgrade from 40GB to 60GB hard drive is available for $30 more, most likely worth it.
That a great deal, btw
