Laptop Help....Quick Memory Question

I have a Acer Aspire 3623 Laptop.....Celeron M 1.5 GHz processor. It currently has 2*256 MB DDR2-400 memory. My other primary laptop, a Toshiba listed below, currently has 2*512MB DDR2-533. I would like to buy 2*1024 MB DDR2-533 and put in the toshiba, then taking the 2*512MB and putting it in the Acer computer.

I'm new to laptops...I've built tons of desktops and realize ram is backwards compatible...just wondering if it is for laptops as well
