What does that mean does it mean that its dieing. What do you think is actually wrong with it. A baring??? It does not do it all the time.

if it ever makes a really loud noise (tho, if its less than 7200 RPMs the noise may not be so loud)
definitely get a replacement HDD. (had this happen once with a maxtor 80gb HDD which died a week or month later)

another HDD I had (ibm deskstar 60gib 7200rpm) made this noise every 24 hours:

3 years later it started powering itself down after running for a bit, so it was decommissioned.

you do, do regular data backups, right? 🙂
