Laptop Harddrive not being detected

i have a laptop hard drive that i am trying to hook up to my desktop through a usb enclosure. the hard drive is recognized in disk management but it does not assign it a drive letter. it shows the disk space and usage and all info, but windows explorer does not see it. anyone have any suggestions?
