laptop hard drives

hey guys, been a long time since ive posted. used to follow hardware much more closely (when i was in college) but haven't had the time recently. i have a laptop thats dying, i want to swap hard drive. its an dell inspiron e1405, how do i find out what type of laptop hard drives are compatible? can't seem to find a clear answer online. could also consider an SSD, if it would work. ideas?

I do not know what your space requirements are but I wouldn't go with anything less than a 120GB SSD. If you are feeling spend-thrifty and can afford a 256GB SSD then that might be worth it but then you are putting a drive in a machine that is worth more than the machine itself.

Get an SSD. You can always move it to the next laptop. You'll love the boot times.

If you can afford an SSD, get one. If you need a lot of space and cannot afford that on an SSD, get a hybrid drive. If you are new to SSDs, I would look at the Intel 320 series, Samsung 830 series or Crucial m4 series.

Burner, thats a 1st gen hybrid. Are the second gens out with 8GB NAND yet?
