Laptop hard drive

Just recieved my 30GB laptop hard drive which I'm going to use to replace the 10GB 3.5" drive in my Neo car jukebox.

A few things:

1) it rattles. should I be concerned?

2) there's no power plug...? I assume it gets power from the IDE cable?

3) feck me it's small - I'm very impressed! SO thin.

I did 2 laptop drive upgrade over the weekend, I thought it was DOA because it rattles too.. but when I took the old one out, that rattled.. so they all rattle ? hahaha

power is pin 43 / pin 44..
I think 43 is top which is +5v and pin 44 is bottom which is ground.. or the other way around...

so you should see
............. _EMPTY SPACE_ ..
............. _EMPTY SPACE_ ..

the two .. at the right side is for drive select and stuff, all the way on the left is the power, pin 43/44

i check the docs at ibm's drive site..

Cheers. I didn't know if the connector would be different so I've just ordered a 3.5" to 2.5" converter cable.

I have a few laptop HDs that have a disclaimer on them saying that the rattle is normal and not to worry. So dont worry. 🙂

Are they always this thin? Just found a ruler and the drive is only 8mm thick!
