Laptop Hard drive?

I think my girlfriends laptop Hard drive is going bad because it doesn't always start up when the power is put on and if I hit it then try it again it starts up. However, for the last few weeks she has been haveing trouble with it being very slow to load and sometimes it freezes up. Well for two days she couldn't get it to start so I took it apart and tapped on the hard drive; after putting it back together it started up. I know a little about computers, but I haven't had much experinence with laptops (I can take them apart, for cleanings and such).

This is the Hard Drive (Toshiba MK3021GAS 30GB) she has. Can anyone tell me exactly what kind of hard drive she needs to replace it. She would like to upgrade to at least a 40 GB (possibly 60GB if she can find one cheap enough) but the 5400 Rpm is fine. The only question I have is about the interface (ATA-100) because newegg only has ATA-6 and Serial ATA150. What is the difference and what do I need. I know the pins have to be the same as the one she already has but I don't know how to tell which it is.

eh I'd stay away from fujitsu hard drives...

Get her a seagate with a 5 year warranty... might cost more but with laptop hard drives they're very fragile, so it'd be worth it

I usually deal with newegg and don't really like ebay, so is there any hard drives on newegg that will fit into her laptop. I don't understand the difference between the ATA 100 interface and the ATA 6 or Serial ATA 150, would one of the latter work with her computer or are they different pin sets.

Just look up under newegg 2.5" laptop drives and go for the ATA100 or ATA 6 standard...

ATA100 is ATA 5, ATA 6 is ATA 133...

It's just the speeds of the transfer rate... either one will work fine in her laptop. Her laptop will not be able to use a SATA drive, so don't buy one of those.
