Helping out someone who got the BSOD on their laptop and now won't boot. Can't get into the bios or anything. Hp logo and the different F key options come up but all just go to a blank screen after pressed. Took the drive out of its carrier and then removed the adapter the plugs the drive into the laptop. That leaves regular SATA connectors so I plugged into into my pc. I can feel the drive spin up but is not seen by the PC. Tried it on a second pc too with the same results. So I believe it is a mechanical problem since it is not even seen. Anyone know of any other reason a latop SATA drive would not work in a PC? I am going to give the freezing trick a try. Of course they have data they need off of it that was not backed up. Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks,

G

If it spins up, but BIOS don't see it, then it is pretty much toast.
You may be able to swap circuit boards *if* you find the same exact model/series of the HD, and that is one of the tricks that the data recovery places use...
