Laptop Graphics Display Distortion

Hi, I have an old Compaq laptop running XP. The cpu is a 1.5ghz Celeron, and the memory is shared. It frequently exhibits this display distortion (noise?), and I was wondering if anyone knows what the root cause is? where it shows the red, it should be black, and the horizontal red moves (see short video clip, below, as well).

thx, brad.

Grab the lcd and move it back and forth, does it recreate this problem?
I have seeing lose lcd cable causes this type of problem.

Then the problem could be cause by LCD, LCD cable, or motherboard LCD cable connector. I would reseat the LCD cable on both end before I do anything else.

From my experiences with laptop, if this is not caused by a lose lcd connection, then it is cause by the LCD.
