laptop graphics cards upgrading

I'm planning to upgrade my Asus N80VN-X5, and am looking into options for the GPU. I know most people will say "it's a laptop you can't do that, buy a new one". I actually heard from a guy that the ati 4850 / 4870 and the nvidia 260M were possible upgrades, can anyone confirm this?

I currently have the nvidia 9650M GT.

If the module interface is the same, and the power/heat requirements are within spec for your model, I don't see why not. Yes, I have upgraded notebook video before. That said, you might be better off contacting Asus support directly and getting a list of confirmed possibilities for your model.

I would think in the ASUS support forums you would find this question asked and answered. Like Arkaign said some models of some brands are upgradeable. Check with ASUS support concerning your model.
