Hello Guys
I have a HP Pavillion DV6406NR laptop, that has been acting up since yesterday. My DVD-RW drive just died out, so i got a replacement for that. But after that, my internet has been going extremely slow, I mean its ridiculous, like dial-up. I have done ad-aware 08 scans atleast five times, coming up with no results, same for spybot. Ive ran disk cleanup and disk defrag couple of times, cleaned up the cache, etc, still acting slow. Its running slow like a 400mhz, while this thing is a dual core AMD Athlon. What should i do ?
any ideas ?

Due to the transfer errors it possibly saw with your dying drive, the IDE driver may have dropped back to PIO mode operation. If true, put it back to DMA for both the HDD and the ODD, and it should be fine again.

well i get the drive today
i think everything should go fine after i install it. The laptop itself is fine, its the internet that is being slow as crap. I will check on the modes and set it back to DMA
but i doubt that is whats causing the issue

i seriously doubt your problem is due to the new dvdrw replacement. but you could always try a test to find out: remove it, then try and see if theres any difference

maybe it was just coincidence. perhaps that one component dying is a sign that other things have broken or are in the process of failing
