laptop goes into standby after 20 minutes

I purchased an old Compaq Armada 4160T and stripped it of its plastic casing to make it into a digital photo frame. Everything is working well except for the fact that the notebook goes into standby (I think that's what its called) after ~20 minutes.

I've changed the settings in the bios so that it shouldn't hibernate or standby, and I've changed the power settings in windows so that it should never hibernate or standby yet it still goes to a black screen.

If I tap the track pad the black screen will again show the screensaver but I want this to show the screensaver for hours at a time.

Any hints, tips, suggestions?

Is a screensaver the best way to slideshow pictures? Might another program work better? When I get a chance I'll list the current screensaver program I'm using.

Thanks

What version of Windows?

Some laptops have two different power settings in BIOS (and there's definately two in Windows) - one for AC power and one for Battery.

If you can't figure out why it's doing this, if you used something other than a screensaver it might override the power saver mode since the laptop SHOULD believe the computer is being used.

Google's free Picasa2 has a slideshow feature.

Windows XP also has a built-in slideshow viewer.

windows 98SE

I'll try picasa2, thanks.

I know of the two in windows, but I think this one only has 1 in Bios. (actually not the "bios" I'm used to, more like computer setup)
