Laptop for video editing

Check out this laptop, it seems pretty good to me. I use pinnacle studio 9 for video editing and want to take my work on the road. What is the difference between the p4 and the pentium m. From what I can tell the processor on the pentium m is always significantly slower, and they cost more. What do they have to offer? Laptop Any other good suggestions for a laptop with a sub 1100 price tag.

Then run cooler and have MUCH better battery life. They do a lot more work per clock, so a 2.0GHz Pentium M is up there with a 3GHz Pentium 4 (faster even in some apps).

If you're willing to switch over to the industry-standard, buy a 12" iBook, Final Cut Pro, and load it up with 1.2GB of RAM.

On the PC end you'll probably want a P4 rather than a Centrino or AMD setup. The Mac really is the best option in this case though.

Not in video editing.

OP: the link you posted looks like a good deal, as long as you can live with an extremely bulky and heavy laptop.

I didn't look close enough, it doesn't have IEEE 1394 firewire port. That means I need some external hunk of s**t to lug around.

The 12" iBook is small, well designed, lightweight, and lasts 6 hours on a battery charge. People tell me that Final Cut Pro is bar-none the best video editing platform available for both interface and performance.

The 12" iBook is around $1250CDN w/ student discount, so I'm guessing they're around $1000US or so, give or take. My gf has one and they're great little machines.

The downside is that most games aren't available for the mac.
