laptop for school

Hello!

My friend needs some help with a laptop for college and asked to me to look into some different ones that may be suited for him. Hes taking a "interactive media design and production" course. The main things the course will entail are:

-Dreamweaver
-Adobe Photoshop(a lot of adobe stuff actually)
-Making and rebuilding sites
-Rendering/encoding

His budget is anywhere from 500-800ish and his only real preference is that the screen should be bigger that 15 inches, but this wouldn't be an absolute factor in buying.

His Professor suggested http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...0dbac0fa95en02

I suggested this http://www.canadacomputers.com/produ...item_id=040902

His professor hinted that, what I suggested, would be outdated in 2 years - I feel that this is kind of irrelevant since his course is only 2 years and he only wants to do his school work on it;

Thanks for any help!

Your pick has a real graphics card instead of HD3000 if that matters. His pick is faster for work use but costs an extra $300. Both have their merits.

Can your friend go look at them in a store? The keyboard, touchpad or display might be noticeably better on one of them.

I can't open the link that your friend's professor is suggesting, but that Acer Aspire seems very solid spec-wise. Although he might want a quad since he'll be rendering more (the 2410M is a dual-core.)

I'd give the HP DV6 and DV6z a shot. Quad lappies with decent prices.
