Laptop for school & gaming

it looks good but why don't you check out dell website and compare for reasonable cheap price? Dell offers rebates if you buy it from dell

I was looking at that one...but is it significantly better do you think? Seems to be nearly identical specs, but with a slower processor. Not sure why it's more expensive. It DOES have a better resolution on the screen though. The one I posted has a bizarre resolution: 1366 x 768....

That's actually a very good idea...I'm going to do that

$1500 budget?

spend a grand on a gaming machine and a nice monitor, spend $500 on a cheap laptop to bring to class. you get a much better gaming machine, and you won't be crushed if your laptop gets stolen or broken.

1080p would certainly be much better than 1366x768. I'm not liking my laptop's low 1280x800 resolution. Wish I upgraded.

Even though the processor is slower, it's not really that much slower. When gaming, you want the best possible GPU (that you can afford). CPU is secondary.

+1, I'm pretty unsatisfied with my laptop from a gaming perspective. When the GPU gets outdated, the laptop isn't really suited for gaming anymore. And getting a laptop with a high-end GPU is very expensive and still nowhere as good as the desktop equivalent. My next laptop will be purely for non-gaming use.

I actually already have a decent gaming machine. I'd be gaming on this one when I'm on the road or away from home and have a few hours to kill. By gaming I just mean Civ IV, BF2, and maybe BF 1943 or something if that comes out anytime soon. All the models posted here could run Civ of BF no problem I think

I would suggest choosing a notebook with a 260m GPU at least as far as gaming goes. CPU choice is a little harder to nail down since the options vary but I'd go for at least a P8700 CPU if you can fit it into your budget. Sager makes some in your price range. PCTorque sells them as does XoticPC and you'll get better customer service than going straight to Sager. XoticPC also sells Asus notebooks as well if you prefer Asus.

my point of view of laptop is different for school and for gaming, for gaming laptop is fine and perfectly matched but for schooling i think laptop's are not good, because of using laptop's desiplane and rules will be definetly broken by the students.
