All I need is a good laptop for a girl who plays some games (pretty much just the sims, some other games) and who does basic girl things on the computer. Needs to last a long time. She might get one for her birthday, can't be too expensive, preferrably.

Dell be ok? I think so...

Ya a dell is ok. Did you check to see if the 750 dollars off 1500 was still up in the hot deals section of this forum?

No I didn't. I wasn't really looking at this place much today, or for the greater part of the week, for that matter. I've got some relatives in from Seattle, and I've had almost no internets time.

That's a great deal right there. Personally I would drop the RAM down, up the warranty, and maybe get the high capacity battery. I wouldn't buy a cheap Dell and expect it to "last a long time."

You mentioned The Sims; is this Sims 1 or Sims 2? If it's Sims 2 there might be some performance issues 😉

Another Laptop to consider is the Compaq R4000 (or its HP Counterpart).

Very similar to the 6000D except it has an Athlon 64. Lower battery life, but you can upgrade to a 12-cell for only $25.

Check it out @ HPShopping.com. If looks interesting check out your Office Depot circular (or go online and check it out at their website). You can go to an OD, configure your own, and save $350 in Mail-In and Instant rebates. I'm going to go check it out myself after work and see if it's worthwhile.
