Well, FWIW, Costco didn't have anything under $500 (that wasn't a netbook) and that was an Acer which I won't slam, but I'd rather a Lenovo.

Looks like it'll be the G570 after all. Hope she likes it!
 
OK, gave it to her last night. She loved it. Although.....(unbeknownst to me).....her HP that had died came back to life. I told her I don't trust that so to switch over all she could to the new laptop but apparently my stepdad also bought himself a new laptop as his HP died (dead as a doorknob) so I told her it's up to her if she wants to risk continuing to use hers & give him the new one or vice versa. (They're not doing well financially & he bought his at costco so if they can return & save the money that would make me feel better).

But either way, I know there's at least one solid laptop between the 2 of 'em. And she did trust that the Lenovo is a solid machine as I gave her the full pitch on behalf of the AT folks here who are never wrong.......right? 😉
