Laptop for EE grad school

I'm currently in a Master's program in Electrical Engineering and I'm in the market for a new laptop. I originally wanted to get a laptop that could run Mass Effect, although I wasn't particularly interested in a gaming laptop, but I have since decided to simply buy an XBox 360.

So which laptop should I get? I need one that can run all the necessary programs and utilities that an EE grad student needs (i.e. MATLAB, SPICE, Xilinx, etc.). Any suggestions? I'd prefer a laptop that costs less than $500, but if necessary, I can go up to $600. Any HP's that would be a good fit for me?

LOL....any laptop can run those programs.....The most demanding would be Matlab, but that would be if you were doing a really math intensive routine with a crapload of data. Even then, a state of the art high end laptop will not help much.
