Edit: Btw, I assume the widescreen XGA screen is 1280x800, is that right?

WXGA = 1280x800, which is really big on a 15.4".

It looks fine though. I'd check the Dell Outlet out to see if you can get a better deal on a laptop (such as a better screen, bigger hard drive, etc). Of course, if you buy the one you listed, try to use a CC that doubles warranties so that you'll have a 2 year warranty on the machine (1 year through Dell, 1 year through the CC company) (This advice does not apply to Outlet machines, as "refurbished" items are usually excluded from CC extended warranties).

Get at least 2 GB of RAM or you will regret it later. The X1150 will take 128 MB of the system Ram for itself!!!!!!!!!

you can add the ram later, 1gb will run vista OK. beside, i hope you arent planning on gaming too much...

i actually just bought an identical system off the bay, except mine had an 80gb harddrive. i paid $635 new, but the guy was desperate to sell. you did pretty good, ill post back on this thread when i get mine in (should have been today! now i have to wait till monday... argh)
