Laptop for a DJ, need help re. sound

Ok,

A DJ friend of mine asked me to get a notebook, and everything else he might need with it. He intents to store all his music in there, and play/ mix it diretcly from the lappy.
Since money is of some concern, question is:

If I get him SB Extigy, can he also use the integrated sound of the Lappy simultaniously? (=as in listening to the next piece, mixing etc...)

I know there are professional external sound systems out there, w. 2 line outs but... they are a bit pricey.
I would appreciate any help/ advice as this is not really my area...

Hummm good question...

Well since the Extigy runs on USB port theoretically you could. I'm not sure if it would override the interal sound or not (or perhaps you can configure it as such). Would assume that it would draw quite a bit of processing power to run two audio channels but I suppose it is possible.

As for the processing power of using 2 audio channels, 1,8GHz pentium4 with 640 Mb of DDR-RAM should take care of that.
