Laptop DVD-ROM Problims

I have a Compaq evo600c Laptop And it has been Doing A good job for me. It has a DVD-ROM And it is starting to go out : (. What I mean by going out is It is not reading cd?s Very good Now. Now for my Question is if possible to clean the DVD-ROM?? I have been told I can not clean the lens with a cd Cleaner kit. Is their anything I can do?? I?m not trying to be cheep But a new /used DVD Rom Cost Around 75.00 is their anything I can Do to save the one I have Thank You In advance

Try this at your own risk OneWatt, but you may be able to clean the lens w/ a 100% cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. Let me say this again, Try at your own risk. I hope this helps a bit 🙂

BTW, I'm assuming you already used some compressed air to blow away any dust and debris.
 
Yes I did try Compressed Air and I do understand it is my own Risk. You See I have a new one coming So If I mess it up no big deal. I have everything To gain nothing to Lose
Do you have Any other ideas
