Laptop DVD Advice

a flat faced laptop DVD with the standard ATAPI d shaped connector can be hacked into most vendors removable trays, just depends if you want to cross your fingers and hope it works or pay $$$ to dell for the exact drive with a tray/mount
 
If I had a choice in that, and I could not do a module swap, I would go for an external with a PCMCIA interface that includes MPEG hardware.
