I have a Compaq Armada 7400 with a docking station with a Presario MV700 montor plugged into the VGA port. For some reason, 2 monitors show up in the device manager (LCD and VGA?). I cannot change the refresh rate of either of them. They both show 'use hardware default' as the only refresh rate option, even after I installed the MV700 monitor drivers for both of the monitors. I know this monitor can do higher than 60Hz, but I cannot tell it to. I plugged it into another computer and it did 85Hz right away. I used some program to force refresh rates but they just went back to 60 no matter what.

Please help me fix this before I go blind.

Is the laptop open while you have it on the docking station. Some older laptops can't display a different refresh rate on an external monitor while the LCD is on. You need to either turn the LCD off by closing the display or setting it to use just the external monitor.

No, it has been closed the whole time. I could change the refresh rates when it had windows 95, but not now that it has windows 2000. Am I missing some drivers? I installed the monitor ones, do I need some for the graphics card?
