Laptop display quality resource?

Maybe it'd be better in the SFF forum, but oh well.

Does anyone know of a good resource for finding useful info on currently-available notebook displays, and their general quality? IE, how to best avoid a terrible washed-out display, without paying through the nose for a fancy machine.

There are only two good laptop displays.

HP Dreamcolor and Apple.

Read Anand's latest Macbook review, he has some displays listed there.

A good TN with good backlighting, that isn't all washed out, would be fine. This is not about doing graphics work, but avoiding the hideous displays that often come with some cheaper laptops (I'm looking at you, AMD-based Probooks), while not getting a high-end laptop, and doing my best not to recommend midrange Dells, which tend to come with decent displays (because those that don't have Latitude chassis always seem to break, require a complete tear-down, and use some of the most annoying solder in the universe 🙂).
