laptop display issue

hello folks my question is simple, are there drivers for laptop lcd displays?
I have a gateway solo 1100 with 433mhz processor it has the dstn display now in window has loaded the display with "default monitor" drivers is this correct?
gateway is no help tryed already.
the screen is grainy when playing a video or if i have a background such as jungle
also i have the to keep the contrast all the way down
any ideas?

Linux loads my laptop LCD as a default monitor, as does win98. But the poor quality of your laptop LCD is related to the fact that DSTN technology is old and poor, and doesn't work all that well for playing games due to the slow refresh.
