Laptop display hooked to desktop?

Long and Short:

Friend wants me to build him a computer... but all I have is my laptop.

I don't have a monitor. Is there anyway that I can feed the computer video to my laptop display so I don't have to lug around a monitor (or heaven forbid, buy one)?

I just need to make sure the machine post, etc... after I build it.
