Laptop Display Corruption...What do you think is cause?

I am working on a Panasonic Toughbook for a friend and I am trying to figure out the cause of this display corruption.. It looks like it is overheating to me, much how a heavily o/c'ed videocard would aritfact in games. The lines appear as soon as the laptop is started. The videocard is a Mobility 9600 Pro. Anyone have any ideas?

Could the laptop have been dropped unseating the card?

I am not sure if it has been dropped, but I know the Toughbooks are guaranteed to survive a fall of 30 cm. There are no visible marks that would indicate it has fallen. Aren't the older mobile video cards mounted directly to the motherboard?

Does it work okay with standard vga drivers?
