Laptop Disconnects from wireless network when I close it

Whenever I shut the top of my new laptop while i'm away on aim i'll open to find that i was disconnected and that i need to reconnect to aim. Could this be because XP exits to that user selection screen whenever I shut it? How can I stop xp from doing this?

Nevermind I managed to fix the problem. I was correct about standbye being the reason i was getting booted off. I corrected it by going to the control panel and setting that when I shut the lid of my laptop the computer "Does Nothing". I'm posting this incase anyone had the same problem and neededto know how to fix it.
