I got an hp laptop , bateri is dead, but i ahve the power cord for it, when i tr started i need to leave it plug in a while i guess for the batter to charge a bit , but i think he baterr is bad all toguether, ,So do u think the reason wh I cant operate the lapp is becasue m bateri is dead or should the laptop operate with the ac cord alone ?

The laptop should operate with just the A/C. I'm typing from my HP9550t here in the living room, battery out cause it's been charged all day, just plugged in by A/C cord. I would guess that the adapter isn't working, or that the jack/motherboard is damaged. My laptop has a blue ring around the charger port that lights up when the cable is connected, showing that it's getting A/C power (whether or not the battery is in it). So check that out first.

I think u migth have nail that just rigth because there is a little plai on the ac adapter plug like is somewhat loose from the laptop, the ac charger itself is new. hanks for the repli
