My gf laptop is giving her teh runs. Her power connector plug on the laptop has a broken pin and now she cannot get energy to her laptop. NOw her laptop has no energy to run. HOw much do you think this will cost and even of it is only about 2 weeks out of warrenty, you think Dell will still take care of it?

I think the power plug is soldered onto the motherboard, hence dell will probably say they need to change the whole mobo (big cash). if it's out of warrenty they won't do it for free.

Dell won't take care of it if it is even 1 second out of warranty. kayatai is probably correct, she'll need a new mobo and that'll cost $$$ 🙁

She might be better off just getting a whole new machine.

i fixed it. Well, i had my freind fix it. th epin brok and he said he could put it back in (he soldered it?). the thing works fine now. Oh, and f*ck dell. My Gateway was 1 month out of warrenty and they still took my machine in and fixed it for free (might have changed, this was ages ago), then i discovered ANandetch and i didnt even bother calling them 😉.

If its 2 weeks out of warranty, call in. If you fail to get that particular CSR to fix it for free, then call until you do get a friendly CSR.
