laptop cpu upgrade?

I got a compaq r3000 with the celeron 2.8. Can I upgrade the cpu later down the line?

Don't count on it. The multipliers, FSB setting, and voltage is usually hardcoded. In other words, you can't change it. Sometimes you might run across a model that supports a few different CPUs, but the speed difference is very minute.

WTF!?

It's a PIV Celeron.
Most likely any PIV with the same buss sped will work in it.

Thats the thing, the other CPU options include a mobile P4, but it was a $200 upgrade. I figure it would be nice if I can get that as an upgrade for 1/3 the price in another year or so.
