laptop cpu upgrade significant boost?

I am thinking of upgrading my laptop Toshiba satellite 2615dvd. It has a celeron 433 with 66 fsb. MMMy question is if i upgraded to a penium III with 100 fsb would the lower bus speed of 66 on Motherboard negate any advantage in using s pentium chip that can work at 100. Thanks

Do you know what chipset you motherboard has?! If it is the BX chipset, it will accept both 66/100 mhz buss speeds! Also is it the MMC-2 type processor?! Dion

laptops are general not upgradable. You could find out from toshiba if a faster CPU is available for you, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

You can not usea desktop processor in a laptop.

Even if you can upgrade the CPU, the problem with laptops is that they have very slow hard drives (2.5" wide, 4200RPM) and low performance video chips. A CPU upgrade might help, but keep in mind that it will be severly limited by the rest of the system. It's the nature of the beast.

Thanks for the reponses. the chipset is zx. i do not know what form factor is of the cpu. There are some laptops that you can upgrade particularly the laptops that use amd k62. Compaqs for sure and some Toshibas. But here is another question. if you have a laptop that uses a dual scan screen and the model , in the same class but above it, uses a tft display can you put a tft display on a laptop that is sold with a dual scan if the connector harnesses are the same form factor. Basically whether a laptop uses tft or dualscan is it soley dependent upon the screen it self or is it both the screen and the motherboard. A tft screen is a tft screen but if you plugged it into a lappy that was sold as dualscan would you have a tft laptop?
