I am curious: is it possible to install laptop CPU on desktop, to get a total quiet computer without CPU fan? I do not know laptop CPU's spec, so do not laugh at me. :)

The pin arrangement is different, no luck there. But if you get a laptop motherboard you can custom build a system around it including the laptop CPU and use it as a desktop. :D

From my understanding, laptop CPUs still have heatinks and fans - at least my mobile PIII 650 does.

Some of them, yes.
There are many types of laptop processors in many different form factors... some correspond almost directly to their desktop brethren.

As an example, the AMD K6-2+, and K6-3+ processors are often used in desktop Socket7 motherboards, despite the fact that they are in actuality laptop processors.
From the opposite side, Dell has been known to occasionally 'accidentally' use desktop processors in their Inspiron 8100 Series of laptops.

Not only K6-2/3+, but also the newer Athlon 4's (see here) use the exact same packaging as the Athlon XP/MP's. The only difference is that they are 1.4v parts, rather than 1.75v.

And PowerNow!
Which is quite a difference in itself, though theoretically their desktop chips should be capable of using that also if mobo supported it.

You may want to lower your Vcore lower to run the computer at lower temperature or use quieter fan. The CPU may still run at pretty decent speeds. My Duron 600 can run upto 550mhz under 1.1 V and 800mhz at 1.3V. My 1Ghz Thunerbird can reach 1.42Ghz at 1.65V. The temp different between full speed and huge undervlotaged speed was in the range of 3-5 Cs.
