laptop CPU temperature monitor?

does anyone know whether:
a) a dell inspiron 1100 has a temperature sensor for the CPU?
b) what software i can use to manipulate fan speeds according to temperature etc?


This laptop tends to heat up and i keep hearing the fan at different speed levels, i'm sure there must be some software that manipulates that, and i'm assuming that there is a temperature sensor in there somewhere.

You can try SpeedFan. I think most Dells have the ability to control fans. Does your bios give you any option to do it? Not all laptops have an option to control fans though. I have found no way of controlling the fan of my Gateway Solo 5300.
