I just bought one from Circuit City where I got my laptop and it works fine. Note that my laptop is also a 15.4" widescreen.

The fan on my dad's laptop just died, so it overheats. Would one of these let him use it longer then a couple hours? Or should I just tell him to order the replacement fan from HP?

i recommend you stop using it until you get a new fan... you could cause some damage

You know you bought a ****** laptop when it needs a separate device alltogether (from what is included) to cool it's self from overheating... The concept of cooling pads is sad and pathetic.
