Laptop Cooling Pad?

My friend is thinking of getting a laptop with a half-decent graphics card in it, which will result in the laptop probably running rather hot. I would recommend that he get a cooling pad, but I don't know much about cooling pads myself. So what brand and price of a cooling pad would be good for a laptop with, say, a Geforce GT 540m or a Geforce GT 555m?
