Hey guys I just bought a compaq 1216US presario.

And after playing DVD or CD for 2 hours the bottom of the laptop that is beneath the ram compartment is like "red hot coal type of hot" so I used a 120mm delta to cool it temporary.

The question in mind is that is there a external, solution that uses ac power/battery or even usb powered fan? It would be really nice if the thing is portable and yet blows hard at the same time. But actually I would prefer a cheap solution.

The delta solution cost about 15 bucks as I had to use a 12V DC adaptor. Anything below or equals to 15 bucks would be a go solution for me as I hope that by cooling my lappy externally I can prolong its life span. :)

TIA

There are fans you can buy that plug into the PCMCIA slots.

For my Dell, a user has written a utility to allow full control over what temp the fans kick on etc, so that is what I use.

Thanks for the reply. I search the cooling section and found one post that had links for my solution. Thanks again. Yeah if you need the same solution try searching it in the cooling section for notebook.
