Posting this just in case anyone else is having the same issues.
I have a HP Pavillion ZV5000 series, and it was running extremly hot. I have a laser thermometer and the temp coming from the fans was 114F. While not insane it, was really hot, and roasting my you know.... The fans seem to be on all the time and even people at work were commenting on how loud it is.
Last night I decided to take the bottom off and take a look. Firstly it was nice that the bottom is split into sections so you can remove just the section over the fans. It looked a little dusty but not too bad. Well I vacumned out the fan compartments... I pulled out hunks of dust the size of a cat! Hmmm..... I might actually be missing a pet!! Anyway.... after vacumning out both fan compartments temps are MUCH lower. 75.5 F as opposed to 114F.
