The Havit Cooler.

This is what I have. It has 5 red led fans. It's pretty quit. There are two usb ports to my left. One for connecting the laptop cooler to the laptop, the other for my Logitech G13. I wish there were more usb ports. This is one of my gripes with the product. For $25 it's made well enough. It's mostly plastic but feels sturdy. The surface is a metal mesh which is great for drawing heat away. There are adjustable legs in the back, and a switch to the left to control the fans. The other small downside with using a laptop cooler is they tend to be a bit bulky which stinks when you're typing. You do get used to that though. I'm using the Logitech G13 applet and core temp to monitor my cpu temps. I can view Cores 0-3 on the Logitech G13 panel. I went with the highest temp.

I have the Acer Helios Predator 300. It's underclocked. This laptop is notorious for running extremely hot. I'll try a few test with and without the Havit running.

I found this cool site to test your gaming rig.

https://benchmark.unigine.com/

My test using Superposition at Med, and Extreme.

Medium Settings, w/ fans blasting full. CPU Temp 71C.

It seems that my laptop performed a bit better with the Havit turned off. Also, the temps during the extreme settings went down. This is because Acer has a program called the PredatorSense and with the extreme settings it went into full blast mode. The fans were on at full, and it sounds like a jet plane taking off. It's loud but pretty effective. I don't think it would be great to keep my system that stressed all the time though.

Btw, this app also has a 4K and 8K option. The 8K uses all the VRam and I was just too chicken to test it out. Maybe later.

Use some kind of frozen cooling gel pad and a couple spares to rotate. They will cool much better than laptop coolers

I'm confused. You're not talkimg about repasting my cpu, are you? How would you use a cooling gel pad?

Cooling gel pads or sheets for human or pet use. Freeze it and let your laptop sit right on top of it. Or you can put your laptop cooler on top of it so it draws cold air to cool your laptop, kind of like the idea of some fans where you can put ice water into it so it can blow cooler air.
