mpilchfamily, the article described it as being right next to the vent. So, it only needs to pull air in from nearby and push it out through the heatpipe fins, like a fan does now. Most fans don't pull air from clear across the laptop, and this won't either.
 
It was the ionic breeze technology that put Sharper Image into Chapter 11.

Maybe the question is, what happens to the excess ozone created by this cooler? This tech review does not address that issue.

The picture you cite is extracted from the review I poseted - and it is thermal imagery. If some folks don't dig it, they need to learn it.
