Laptop Computer extremely slow

First of all I'm blaming it all on ram since this computer only has 256mb. But anyways it used to be a lot faster (by a lot faster I mean it didn't take 10 minutes to boot up and load everything). I would understand it if I installed a lot of things, but the thing is I barely installed anything and even at that, I didn't install any high memory consuming programs, all I have is basically a kodak program, avast and some hp software. So out of the 40gb I still have like 33 free.

I have scanned with every program I thought off and find no adware/virus/trojans etc. But I still feel there's something not right.

Can anyone tell me if this Hijack log has anything strange. I would greatly appreciate it. I'm going to buy 1gb of ram today, but I don't want to come back install it and still find the comp slow. I really don't :(.

Your log is fine. Nothing suspicious looking.

Something else is definately wrong if windows is taking that long to boot. Run a chkdsk, maybe your hdd is dying.

lol, that might actually be a bad idea due to it messing up the file table etc. First thing he needs to do is run memory bandwidth benchmark in sisoft sandra, report back, and run a SMART check (ATA Controllers), find your HDD, scroll down and check out the smart information, you should have only green check marks, any red 'Xs' be sure to tell us what is marked with an X.

The one thing you need to do is to update Java. The version you have is outdated and, because of security reasons, needs to be updated. To update Java:
- Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs
- Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment...)
- Select the version(s) and click Remove
- Then download and install the newest version from here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
- Reboot after installation.
